I started Our Dirt Bike Experiences for all the dirt bikers out there to come learn a little about dirt bikes, safety, submit stories and pictures of your dirt bike experiences and buy products. The history behind all of our madness with dirt bikes and offroading. I think dirt bikes are the best thing out there at the moment. Some may disagree but what else can you do that represents family time. What Golf, Hah! Watch football, baseball, basketball or any other sport on television that has nothing to do with family. You can get your kids started as young as 3 years old or get your old man ( father) into the fun as late as 60 years old. Whether your young or old you can get started into dirt bikes. The best thing about dirt bikes and offroading is that it is so family and friends oriented. So get out there start dirt biking, think safety and have a great time. Motorcycle History A little history on motorcycles, man we have come a long way. From the first steam cycle invented by Sylvester Howard Roper in 1867 to the 2008 Yamaha WR250F dirt bike pictured below. If you would like to learn more about the history of the motorcycle go here. The new motorcycles have some of the best technology worked into them from previous models. Whether you are an avid collector or rider there are many facets to this invention. You can spend your Sunday on a Harley or set off for the weekend with your motorcycles. If you are not into riding then you can find the nearest competition and enjoy the action.
The Events If you are looking to attend a competition you may find that there are two main Motocross series: the FIM’s Grand Prix- the World Championship series and the AMA’s American National Championship. The AMA’s Motocross begins in early May and continues until mid-September, and consists of 12 rounds and 12 major tracks all over the continental United States. The Grand Prix is predominantly held in Europe with some “flyaway” rounds. Race duration is slightly longer at 35 minutes plus tow laps, while the series is longer, generally incorporating over 16 rounds.To learn more about these events check thisout.
You may be attracted to these competitions for the shining stars. Ricky The G.O.A.T Carmicheal which he just retired from the game in 2007, James Bubba Stewert World GP and AMA champion, 2007 US Open Champion Grant Langston, Chad Reed and many others. There are many up and coming stars like Ryan Villopoto and Mike Alessi that are in the Lites Class. In the freestyle arena you may be familiar with the names of Carey Heart, Mike Metzger, and Travis Pastrana. These riders are well known for their freestyle method of riding. Freestyle concentrates on performing acrobatic stunts while jumping motocross bikes on dirt tracks. The winner is chosen by a group of judges. The riders are scored on style, level of trick difficulty, best use of the course, and frequently crowd reactions as well. Check it out. Other Offroad Bikes If you are not interested in watching the freestyle method of dirt bikes there are other venues to buy tickets for. Along with the Freestyle there are also Minibikes, Supermoto and ATV/Quad Motocross. Pit-bike racing has taken a turn towards mini-moto, usually racing on go-kart and tight, small vehicle tracks. Supermoto involves taking a motocross dirt bike that is meant to be raced off-road and converting it to be raced on tracks consisting of both dirt and pavement. The dirt bikes are fitted with special road racing tires and are "grooved" to grip both the pavement and dirt. Some tracks for these race events have jumps, berms, and whoops just like true motocross tracks. More info. ATV/Quad Motocross are all-terrain vehicles. These three and four wheeled bikes are raced just as their counterparts. They haven’t been very popular because of the alleged dangers of operating these vehicles.
